Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 3, 2026
TrackMyHitsLive is an app for iPhone, iPad and Mac that scores paper shooting targets. It is made by Jean Nguyen, an independent developer in Canada ("I", "me"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use TrackMyHitsLive.
The short version
- TrackMyHitsLive does not collect your personal information. I do not run any server for the app, and I cannot see your pictures, sessions, scores or settings.
- There is no account to create, and no advertising, analytics or tracking.
- Everything the app records stays on your device unless you choose to share it.
What stays on your device
To work, TrackMyHitsLive keeps the following in its private storage on your iPhone, iPad or Mac:
- Camera pictures: the live picture of your target is analyzed on your device to find new holes. The app saves the pictures it needs: a picture of the target for each session, a small picture of each hit, and the target pictures you add to the target library.
- Shot sounds: the microphone sound is analyzed on your device to recognize shots. Only the shot samples you record for your own shot signature are saved.
- Sessions: the date, time, position, score and picture of each hit, group sizes and your comments.
- Your shooter profile: the name or callsign, country, hand, shooting position and ammunition you enter.
- AI training material: the pictures you save as training examples, and the models you train or import. Training runs on your device.
- Settings and the diagnostic log: your preferences, and a local log of app events and crash details used for troubleshooting. The log never contains your shooter name.
This information is protected by your device's security. It is included in your device backups (for example iCloud Backup or a backup on your computer) if you have turned those on; Apple's backup service and its privacy policy apply to them.
Permissions the app asks for
You can allow or refuse each one, and change your mind later in your device's settings.
- Camera: to watch the paper target and find new holes. Without it, the app cannot detect hits.
- Microphone: to hear the shot, so that only real shots are counted, and to listen for voice commands if you turn them on.
- Speech recognition: only for voice commands, which are off until you turn them on.
- Bluetooth and local network: only for competitions with nearby shooters.
What is shared, and with whom
Nearby shooters, during a competition. When you host or join a competition, your name or callsign, your number of shots and your score are sent directly to the other devices in that competition, over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. While you host, your name is also announced so that nearby devices can find the competition. Nothing goes through the internet or a server. Use a callsign if you prefer not to show your real name.
Apple. A few features rely on Apple's services, which are covered by Apple's privacy policy (apple.com/legal/privacy):
- Purchases: the free trial and the lifetime unlock are bought through the App Store. Apple handles payment; the app only receives Apple's signed record of which purchase you own and when it was made, which it uses to time the 7-day trial.
- Update check: when it starts, and when you press Check for Updates, the app asks the App Store whether a newer version exists. The request contains only the app's identifier and your App Store country. You can turn this off in General with "Automatically check for updates".
- Voice commands: if you turn them on, your spoken commands are recognized by Apple's speech recognition. Depending on your device and language, Apple may process the audio on its servers.
- Crash reports: if you allowed it in your device's privacy settings, Apple may share crash reports and anonymous usage statistics with app developers. I use these only to fix problems.
Files you choose to share. You can export sessions (ZIP or CSV files), training pictures, models and a diagnostic report. They leave your device only when you export them, and they go only where you send them. A diagnostic report holds technical details (device model, system and app version, the app's event log and crash details), not your pictures or your shooter name. If you send me a report or a file for support, I use it only to help you, and I delete it when the problem is solved or when you ask.
I do not sell, rent or trade any information, and TrackMyHitsLive contains no third-party code that collects data.
Children
TrackMyHitsLive is made for target shooting and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your information stays on your device until you delete it:
- Delete single sessions in Sessions, and models in Show Models.
- On iPhone and iPad, deleting the app deletes everything it stored.
- On the Mac, deleting the app leaves its data in your user Library. To remove it as well, delete the folder ~/Library/Containers/com.JeanNguyen.TrackMyHits.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom or California), you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information. Because I do not hold any information from the app, you control all of it directly on your device. If you have written to me or sent me a file, you can ask me what I have and ask me to delete it.

Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Important changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
